sitting with sprig (the kitten) - wkly review 09.19

sprig in a box
I almost balked at writing a recap of the week. It's something I started about a month ago and even if it goes unread, it helps me be reflective. So, this afternoon I sat with our kitten (Sprig) and pulled together an overview of the past week.
Last Saturday, was a challenging day, for no particular reason. I ended up spending more time on my phone than was healthy -- reading news and doom scrolling 😟. On Sunday, I made a more concerted effort to take charge of my time, which contributed to better days, and this post. It garnered more of a response than I anticipated (or was comfortable with), including this post by Widdershins and this one by Antonio. Both gave pause for reflection, which is what makes time on the small web enjoyable (and valuable). I appreciated their ideas!💡
As I've mentioned before, in retirement I'm trying to pitch in around the house and take on some of the cooking. This week I made pizza, lemon-herb baked salmon, an chicken street tacos that were phenomenal because of the baked (yep) chicken. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs and the recommended marinade. Highly recommend! The more things I try, the more I get into planning meals and trying new things.🍝
I'm still working on landscaping projects at Live Love (a local non-profit). I've been slowly making my way around the property pruning trees. It is hot work, and I sweat like an old man, but it feels good to contribute and I can see the progress. Hoping to finish by the end of the month!🌳
Yesterday I booked a flight back to Kansas (still another month out) to help my brother prep for the Christmas tree season. It is hard, physical work, but I enjoy the Christmas season a lot more than shearing and peach picking season. Regardless, time back "home" is always good for my soul.🌻
My postroll is updated with several reads I enjoyed this week.
I did manage to write several posts this week. If you are going to read just one, I recommend confessions of a cowardly kid.
Addresses my trepidation in knowing that someone might actually read what I write.
The result of a rough day of phone misuse.
A light read about my childhood fear of bovines.
Who cares if you aren't any good? If you like it, give it a try!
