stuck? a simple plan

Sometimes I feel a little off. Discombobulated. Struggling to find my rhythm.

There is no shortage of advice on what to do in these situations, but here is a simple plan that has consistently worked for me.

  1. Take out a pen and paper (I like an index card).
  2. Write down the things I need to accomplish. No projects -- only individual tasks. This doesn't have to be a comprehensive list -- just trying to get it out of my head.
  3. Circle three things. Only three. It can be anything on the list -- no prioritization necessary.
  4. Do those three things and cross them off.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4, as needed.

This simple process gives my brain a bit of success. Solid purchase…a place to start. A bit of momentum usually provides a kick start on which to build.
