remain facing forward
Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you. - Walt Whitman
I have a four-year old nephew that I watch from time to time. One of my duties is to pick him up from preschool. Until recently, he had been riding in a rear facing car seat, but he has now switched to a seat that faces forward.
This adjustment -- from sitting backward to facing forward -- has opened up an entirely new world to him.
With the change, he now points out distant mountains, trucks and roadwork equipment, Jersey Mike's (his favorite restaurant), and anything else that catches his eye. In addition, he has become an exceptional backseat driver, alerting me to stop signs, red lights, and potential traffic hazards.
Who knew? Staying focused on what lies ahead and leaving the past behind, results in a healthy perspective and new opportunities.
Even for a four-year old kid in a car seat.
