3 reasons I haven't been posting

Whoa. I have not written in this space for some time. So, what's up with that?

1. The world. The United States specifically. It has been exhausting.

When I sit down to write, I haven't felt inspired. Nor have I had, anything of value to say. The news. The lack of empathy. The outright cruelty. This disregard for the constitution. It all makes me angry. I have written to my senators and representative, multiple times. Things are still a mess. I'm trying to take action where I can -- but things are still a mess.

2. I've been seeking more interaction.

I desperately want a platform where I can share photos, see other people's photos, read about nature, and possibly stay connected to what is happening in the world -- without becoming overwhelmed. I ditched Facebook a long time ago. Twitter (or X, or whatever) is disheartening. Instagram, in my humble opinion, has become almost unusable. I have been lurking and posting some on Substack, but I suspect that at some point, the algorithm is going to get me. As I mention on my homepage, I am truly not responsible enough to use social media. I may have to resort to interacting with people, in person. Gasp.

3. I have time, but I've chosen to use it in other ways.

Hiking, cleaning the garage, trying to make sourdough bread, photography, working to become more "handy" (with tools and things) and spending time on my garden that primarily produces arugula and radishes. These are not bad things.

But, you can't be a writer if you don't write.

So, I am going to rejuvenate my efforts to write in this space because I appreciate Bear's minimalist framework, lack of algorithms, and the control I have over the content.

I'll post my pictures and publish what is on my mind -- be it serious, nonsense, or seriously nonsensical.

For an audience that may, or may not exist.

Have a wonderful day...if you are out there ;)
